happy 4 months, kayla bear!

can't believe our baby girl is already 4 months!  how time flies.  it's been so amazing to watch her grow and go through different stages and phases :)  she's now batting and grabbing things with both her hands, amused and awestruck by colors, lights, and sounds, cooing and smiling like no other, bouncing and kicking her legs, it's so much fun!  she definitely has evolved into quite a happy baby :D  we had her 4 month checkup, and we're happy to say our little chubb chubbs is in the 95th% for height and 75th% for weight :)

philip and i have been REALLY enjoying just seeing her change day by day, getting her into a good routine, and being our little own family of 3 :)  i can't even begin to say how incredible and important it's been to have a very hands-on, involved husband when raising a child...philip's been so amazing in partaking in every aspect of kayla's care - from burping to bathing to changing to diapering to reading to dancing to playing with her, it's been so sweet to see their little father-daughter relationship develop :)  kayla sure does love her daddy!  the second she hears his voice or sees him, she gets this HUGE smile across her face.  my heart melts :)

our kayla bear is now (for the most part) sleeping really well through the night - we pray this continues!  her bedtime is 8pm, and she usually sleeps straight until about 7am.  PTL!  of course every now and then, there are a few hiccups or she gets hungry around 5am, but for the most part, she's been loving her sleep (just like mommy & daddy!).

last thursday night, phil had his graduation award banquet.  much to my surprise, he nominated me for this National Moritsugu Memorial Award at UMDNJ.  here's a description of the award: "Each recipient exemplifies the role of a professional's partner by providing immeasurable support of his or her mate, family, and the medical  profession, while being an individual in their own right. This individual helps make anything possible."  i was SO honored and touched that he 1. wrote an essay about me (God knows how much he HATES writing essays), 2. wrote the things he did in the essay - it meant a lot to read his words on how highly he regarded me, and 3. that i freakin won! :P  philip told me it was a record number of applicants this year, so it really made it extra special for the both of us to win.  although i gotta say, i felt very humbled and undeserving when i went up to receive the award.  thanks to all of you for your congratulations & well wishes :)  and thanks to my awesom-EST hubby who seriously never fails to make me feel so cherished and loved.
