this father's day is special for us because phil is literally finishing up his intern year TODAY. how nice of them to let him work a 28 hour shift on father's day :P but we don't need a day to tell him how SO very much we love and appreciate him :) this past year has probably been one of the most challenging for phil and for our marriage. not because of anything between us, but because phil was truly tested to his limits with the hours he was demanded to work. this oftentimes left me feeling like a semi-single mom. if phil wasn't such a good daddy and husband to kbear and me while he WAS able to be home, i don't know how we would've survived! to be ending probably (and hopefully) what will be the hardest and most demanding year of his career on father's day is a WONDERFUL gift in and of itself :) we really thank GOD that we were able to endure this year, and not only get through it, but kick it's a$$ and come out a stronger, more loving, and more devoted couple/family than ever. truly, we wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for Him and His faithfulness and blessings upon our marriage and family.
despite the busyness of this past year, philip has managed to take care of his girls. whenever he was post call, he picked up and dropped off kbear at school. he packed her breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. he cleaned the house. he washed the dishes from the night before that i was too exhausted or lazy to wash. he prepped and cooked gourmet meals. he took us out to the city on weekends b/c he knew his girls loved being out and about exploring :) he drove us up north to visit halmonee and harabuhji despite going on 2 hours of sleep from call. he watched kbear NUMEROUS times throughout the year so i could have girls nights. he worked hard so he could provide what we needed. he played guitar for and with kbear so she would learn to love music and praise songs. he took her on walks to the park and library when mommy was working. he took us all shopping anytime mommy needed some retail therapy. he read kbear her books hundreds, maybe even thousands, of times over and over and over again. in between his days of insanity and insomnia, he came up with special routines with kbear that only he and she will ever share. he always helped me bathe kbear at least every other night, even if he was literally running in with his scrubs. needless to say, he is an amazing dad and husband. congrats on completing and getting through this trying year, baby! we are SO blessed to have you in our lives. it only keeps getting better and better. we love you!
appa, i hope you'll always be there to lead the way and hold my hand...
i hope you'll always point me the right way to notice and to be thankful for all the beautiful things in life...to truly enjoy the moment :)
i hope you'll always be there for me to lean on, because i always will.
we love you SO much, philip. you are the greatest gift and blessing to this family. happy father's day to the best appa in this world...no, universe (to the moon and back at night ;)).
