when we got back from LA, we came home to the best.surprise.ever...a beautifully decorated Christmas tree! kbear couldn't stop oohing and ahhing at the lights, ornaments, and flashing star. it's now way past Christmas, and we still haven't taken it down b/c of how much she adores and loves the tree :) she does the hand motions for "twinkle twinkle little star" signaling us to turn on the lights :P i swear, if this was a fake tree, i'd make philip keep it up all year round :P i don't know how he bought, lugged, hoisted, and decorated the ma-HASS-ive tree all by himself. best husband/father of the year award for this awesome feat alone :)

we hosted Christmas eve dinner at our place this year, so we had the in-laws and the bro in-law and his gf come down. it was a night of many new traditions, fun, good food, and awesome company. our dear friends kip & bess stopped by for a bit - SO good to see them :) the comfort of good friends is always soul-warming :)
on the menu for Christmas eve dinner: spicy avocado and shrimp cucumber bites, corn salsa and 7-layer dip with chips, my mom's famous chinese chicken salad, 2 different kinds of pot roasts, philip's amazing brazilian shrimp (one of my absolute faves), korean-style sweet and spicy fried chicken, and pecan pie a la mode.
